History of Bhuteshwar Mahadev

Bhuteshwar Mahadev Shivling is a self-made Shivling because even today there is no exact logic about the origin and establishment of this Shivling.

But according to experts and ancestors, this temple was formed about 30 years ago.

From a small mound in the midst of these dense forests, the people of the surrounding villages could hear the sound of a bull bellowing.

But when the villagers visited the mound, there was neither a bull nor any other animal.

Seeing such a situation, gradually the faith of the villagers increased in that mound and they started worshiping it considering it as the form of Shiva.

Since then that small Shivling has taken the form of the biggest Shivling.

Now call it the faith of the devotees or the miracle of God, since then till now the growth of Shivling continues.

Somnath, Shriram, and Mother Sita are sitting on the banks of the river, worshiping for some time

hence the name Bhuteshwar

There are 12 Jyotirlingas across the country, in which devotees of Lord Shiva have deep faith.

There is such a Shivling in Chhattisgarh whose recognition is similar to that of Jyotirlinga.
