There is a long series of fairs of various forms in Chhattisgarh state, mainly in the north-eastern region i.e. Jatra or Ramrekha in Jashpur-Raigarh region, Vishnu Yajna-Harihat of Raigarh-Sarangarh, Chait-Rai and business fair, Bar of Katghora-Korba region. Madai in the districts of Bastar in the southern region and different associations like Bazar, Matar, and Mela in other parts are vibrant celebrations of the cultural richness of the state with their multi-colored hues.

Rajim’s Fair-Fair of Chhattisgarh
Rajim’s fair is known as Rajim Kumbh Mela. Rajim is Prayag and Mahatirtha of Chhattisgarh. Rajim is located at the confluence of the Parry River, Soundhur River, and Mahanadi, which is located in the Gariaband district of Chhattisgarh. There is a famous temple of Rajeev Lochan and Shiv ji here, which is located in the middle of the confluence of Pari, Saundhur and Mahanadi.
On the side wall of the Rajeev Lochan temple, there is the 896th inscription of Kalchuri dynasty, which is a proof of the very ancientness of the temple.
Jagatpal renovated this temple. This temple is considered as the fifth abode of India. It is a belief that the journey of Jagannath is not considered complete until the journey of Rajim is completed. Rajim holds a month-long fair every year from Maghi Purnima to Mahashivratri. A lot of crowd can be seen in it. A large number of saints and sages come here from the country and abroad.
It has been recognized as a pilgrimage.
Fair of Shivrinarayan-Fair of Chhattisgarh
Shivrinarayan is located in Janjgir district, which is situated at the Triveni confluence of Mahanadi, Shivnath and Jonk rivers. According to the ancient belief, Lord Shriram had eaten Shabri’s false berries here.
Narayan Temple, Lakhneshwar Shiva Temple, Chandrabuddeshwar Temple are prominent among the famous temples here.
Every year a huge fair is organized in Shivrinarayan temple from Magha Purnima to Mahashivratri. Lakhs of devotees and pilgrims participate in this fair.
Dongargarh fair-Fair of Chhattisgarh
The temple of Maa Bamleshwari is on the hill of Dongargarh in Rajnandgaon district. Dongargarh is on the Mumbai-Howrah railway line. A fair is in this temple on both the Navaratris, which is famous for the darshan of Bamleshwari. In Chhattisgarhi dialect, people call it by the name of Bamlai Dai.
This temple by King Kamdev. Jyoti Kalash is in this temple in the number of Lokhas. Lakhs of people come to this temple for darshan. People come here for pilgrimage to fulfill their wishes. This temple is on the top of the hill of Dongargarh, where stairs and lifts have been arranged to reach it.
Fair of Ratanpur-Fair of Chhattisgarh
Ratanpur is in the Bilaspur district of Chhattisgarh. Ratanpur has the distinction of being the first capital of Chhattisgarh. There is a grand temple of Mahamaya Devi in Ratanpur. This temple was built by King Ratnadev in the 11th century. A fair is in this grand temple during Navratri.
Jyoti Kalash is here in the number of people. Devotees and devotees from far and wide come here to have the darshan of Mahamaya Devi.
Here free food is for the visitors by the Mahamaya Trust.

Shankarji’s fair-Fair of Chhattisgarh
This fair, which has for many years at a place called Kanki in the Bilaspur district of Chhattisgarh, is famous for its miraculous stories.
This fair, which lasts for seven days, starts on the occasion of Mahashivaratri in the month of Phalgun.
