Frog Marriage“kappal pandum”

This tradition known as “Kappal pandum” is famous for celebrating the marriage of frogs to get enough rain.

This festival is celebrated by women on a date decided by the priest.

The women collect frogs from the field and place them in a new pot.

This vessel is also covered with a new cloth.

The women carry the pots home to the village on their heads and keep them for about a week after which they are taken in procession and released into nearby streams and ponds.

During this occasion, the elderly women pay special homage to the clan god.
