Kunkuri Church of Jashpur, Chhattisgarh is one of the famous ones.

Jashpur Chhattisgarh has many natural and religious attractions, Kunkuri Church Cathedral (Mahagirja Ghar) being one of them. 

This church is the second largest in Asia with a capacity of 8,000 to 10,000 people praying. 

On Christmas Day, people from all over the country pray to the Lord Jesus and celebrate  Christmas with great grandeur.

 The Cathedral Church of Kunkuri is in the city of Kunkuri, 16 km from the center of the Jashpur district. 

Every year more than 5 million people and tourists of all religions come to see the beauty of this church. 

This church is in the shape of a semicircle.

the sanskaras made in the windows from Jharkhand,

the bells in this church are from Kerala,

and the doves made on the cross which is holy It is believed to be the symbol of the soul and has been brought from the Bastar region of Chhattisgarh.

In this way, the Kunkuri Church has the cooperation of people from all walks of life. 

  

 History of Kunkuri Church 

 This church was designed by Bishop Stanislaus from the well-known Belgian architect Cardinal JM Carsey SJ. 

The construction work of this church started in the year 1962 and was completed in the year 1979.

 After the completion of the construction work, this was inaugurated in the year 1982. 

It is said that it took 17 years to build this church and 2 years to lay the foundation.  

 This church plays an important role in the settlement of the city of Kunkuri. 

After this church was built, Loyola School and Holy Cross Hospital appeared here.

and then people began to settle around it.

Previously, Kunkuri was a small village, but now it is a city.
