Ram Waterfall is About 18 kms from Raigarh district headquarters.

This is a natural water spring that has great historical importance.

Lord Rama once came here during his exile and took the water of this spring, hence the name Ram Jharna.

History

According to History, Lord Ram once had been here during his Vanwas and drank water from the water source.

It is a mythological belief that Lord Shri Ram married his wife during 14 years of exile. When Sita and their brother came here with Laxman, Mother Sita felt thirsty and Lord Shriram pierced the earth with an arrow, and mother earth also shed a stream of water from her lap to quench the thirst of her daughter.

Hence the name Ram Jharna. It is a very good picnic spot.

In Ramjharna, ever since Assistant Circle Officer has taken charge, this place has been organized and strengthened and the number of tourists coming here is increasing continuously due to the family atmosphere being provided to the visitors.

The attraction of Ramjharna is within a radius of about one and a half kilometers.

How to Reach Ram Waterfall

By Air

The nearest airport is Raipur. which is 130 kms from Raipur.

 

By Train

The nearest railhead is at Bhupdevpur for Ram jharana(6kms), and Raigarh for Bhupdevpur (15kms). Kharsiya is yet another convenient railhead for visiting Ram jharana.

 

By Road

Bhupdevpur, Kharsiya, and Raigarh are situated on National Highway No.5.

Regular buses ply between Bilaspur and Raigarh, which stop at Bhupdevpur and Kironimal Nagar.

Tourists can avail of auto rickshaws and taxis from both these places and reach the Ram Jharna in a short while.
